John Brack lived in Bal­wyn North, not far from the Plotkin House, for approx­i­mate­ly 10 years. It was a pro­lif­ic time for him, in which he paint­ed some of his most recog­nised works. This peri­od of work pro­vides the inspi­ra­tion to lay the foun­da­tion for our inte­ri­ors con­cept. The paint­ings are a rich source of colour, tex­ture, form and nar­ra­tive, dis­play­ing a mas­tery of aes­thet­ic skills and com­po­si­tion to achieve their impact. A sin­gle moment cap­tured in time that endures. 

Madeleine de Proust encap­su­lates the rich his­to­ry of the clas­sic French madeleine but sub­verts the sim­ple treat into a refined ele­vat­ed moment of lux­u­ry. Revi­tal­is­ing the cus­tomer expe­ri­ence. Com­bin­ing exot­ic flavours with the most delec­table dec­o­ra­tion allows the Madeleine to be con­tem­po­rised with finesse — our vision mir­rors this and expands on this promise.

Our vision for Assem­bly Label is to cre­ate an envi­ron­ment that speaks direct­ly to the tar­get audi­ence nat­u­ral­ly and effort­less­ly. We have leaned into the prin­ci­ples of min­i­mal­ist design that under­pin the brand and cham­pi­on the prod­uct ranges as indi­vid­u­als with­in a holis­tic store experience.

The space is a har­mo­ny of mate­ri­al­i­ty, tex­tures and neu­tral foun­da­tion colours. It sets dis­tinc­tions between high, mid and low vol­ume and tone, which enables the prod­uct to become the hero but also nev­er dilutes the environment. 

By par­ing back the tex­ture, colour and mate­ri­al­i­ty of the retail space we have brought an authen­tic con­nec­tion between the Assem­bly Label brand and the built form.

This house is a cre­ative space, a place to col­lect, dis­play and view, to express and pur­sue one’s inter­ests in art and craft­ing, and to feel con­nect­ed to the out­doors. Our con­cept draws on the play­ful tri­an­gu­lar roof forms of the work­ers’ cot­tages through­out the neighbourhood. 

Our home for a young fam­i­ly is a space that con­veys qual­i­ty and ele­gance against a ener­getic lifestyle. It draws on the vibrant and abun­dant green envi­ron­ment, cre­at­ing an oasis in Clifton Hill.

A for­ev­er home in a de-con­se­crat­ed and con­vert­ed church. With bespoke fin­ish­es, land­scap­ing, inte­ri­or and exte­ri­or ren­o­va­tions for a cre­ative fam­i­ly with a sin­gu­lar vision.
