Baker Bleu, Sydney

A new flagship store in Double Bay saw Baker Bleu bring its quality artisan sourdough bread to Sydney-siders seeking a taste of its popular ‘dark crust magic’.

We began, as always, with context. Grounded in the unique character of Double Bay, our design respects the store’s timeless harbourside surroundings while embracing the optimism and growth inherent in the Baker Bleu brand.

Building on our concept established in Melbourne, our concept for the Double Bay production facility and retail space elevates the perception of bread beyond the everyday—and provides a platform for Baker Bleu to engage with its audience.

The store's minimal, textural aesthetic draws the visitor’s focus to the bread—the true hero of the space—by creating a cohesive system. Without anything random or extraneous in the space, operations are streamlined and the customer journey is enhanced.

Desirable, sensorial, ephemeral—Baker Bleu products are a reward for the curious. Through tactile and natural materials, we wanted to provide a canvas where these products could be curated to the level of art and enjoyed by fellow fans by embracing the brand’s motto:
‘Bread for sharing’.

The larger footprint of the Guilfoyle Avenue tenancy in Double Bay has also allowed us to create a true destination retail experience. New Sydney customers now have a place to fully immerse themselves in Baker Bleu’s products, from making to tasting.
