As a successful skin and body clinic offering a mix of traditional and progressive beauty therapy treatments, Novae sought an expansion of their service offering through the addition of advanced treatments and branded skin and body care products. As part of the company’s growth, Novae required a fit-out and refurbishment of their new three-storey premises. IF Architecture’s design response expressed the client’s holistic approach to beauty therapy through a modern interpretation of the philosophy behind ancient Roman bathing houses.

A considered spatial design delivers a Roman inspired journey through the clinic’s service offering over two levels; brass strips set into marble floors represent the transference of water and continue on the second floor, where brass strips and a timber lined ceiling are engraved with ancient Latin proverbs. Clients are greeted at reception by curved, marble walls and a circular basin offering alkaline water which is inspired by traditional Roman baths. A complementary, circular staircase with glass shelving to showcase the company’s skin and body products ascends to the second floor, revealing a range of treatment rooms and a feature room with two massage areas, furnished with complementary brass furniture and leather bound, rounded wall mirrors. Soft, tactile grains exposed through pallor timber ceilings, marble selection, apricot leather shelving and upholstery reflect the skin’s soft tonal textures and qualities. IF Architecture’s holistic design response encourages client interaction with Novae’s complete service offering.
